Radiosport as the term is sometimes used as two separate words, or as one word. Refers the use of amateur radio equipment or "Ham", in short, as a part of playing any game. It might be group event or a single event person. Can involve other competitors in real time as a career or as a performance or achievement over a period of time.
The contests are often sponsored events, and may last from a few hours and two days, the whole world that is challenged usually two days. It can be local to a specific region, or may involve a long distance journey. It can be a cumulative contest taking place over many weekends, or in a sprint competition that only lasts a few hours. The rules are specific to the event and include the stations (regions) may participate and the like.
This is usually called radiosports. This can be any of the following.
Dx-Competition: This is when stations are two ways to make contact with as many stations as possible on as far as possible. This is known as the International DX-Contest today. The awards may be granted for the following achievements. The "Worked All States award" if the participants come into contact with someone from every state U.S.. The "Worked All Continents Award" is given for making contact with someone from every continent. "He worked all areas Award" is the same concept of time zones. Other awards include the DX Century Club Award, and the UHF / VHF Century Club Award.
Another event is an Amateur Radio Direction finding using radios. A number of transmitters of the need for a specific region on a map before reaching the baseline. This is based on the ability Athletic ham operator and some skill with radio direction finding.
Fox hunting Oaring or Bunny: This is similar to the previous contention but involves teams of shorter range of hams, so it relies more on the leadership to find contestants' skills rather than athletic ability. It is more technical than the previous contest, and can detect radio signals only 100 meters away, so the contestant must locate the transmitter hidden in an area of 200 m radius.
One more game that severely restricted the Radio Fox Oaring guide competition in compact areas. This requires knowledge technicians high.
Another way to find the address of amateur radio, or bunny hunting, using vehicles to transport long distances. The hams have to travel in their vehicles to the specific region and find the transmitter. Whoever finds the first transmitter and reaches the finish line wins. A variant is the one to find a number of transmitters hidden in different places first is the winner. This value depends on the ability to travel, the ability guidance and equipment efficiency as well.
These events are called ARDF competitions, which stands for Radio Direction Finding Amateur Competitions. Radiosports contests or are only part of the activity of a hobby. Participating in competitions is not a requirement, but there are many who follow this almost obsessively, to earn and collect certificates by the dozen in fact. At the other extreme are those who have the same passion for being a ham, but do so exclusively for communication and satisfaction. The interesting thing ham to be mentioned here is that the hams can and do make regular contact with space stations. Many astronauts are licensed amateur radio operators and the use of radios for educational purposes, as well as an emergency backup.
So what was once a small region covering the local level from has now entered the space! What was the Morse code based on a one-time has evolved towards greater involvement of changes in voice, digital transmission and so on. It's exciting to see the amount of radio transmission has changed in recent years.
